Tiger Men's Tennis Team Sweeps NC State, 7-0

CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson men's tennis team opened ACC play today with a 7-0 win over NC State at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. The Tigers improve to 12-4 overall, while the Wolfpack falls to 2-8 on the season. In singles action, Nathan Thompson defeated RJ Murray 6-1, 6-3 at number one singles. Sander Koning won a three-set decision (2-6, 6-4, 6-4) over Val Banada at number two singles. At flight three singles, Micah Thompson downed Will Shaw by a score of 6-2, 7-6 (7-5). Clemson's Jarmaine Jenkins earned a victory at number four singles against Jon Davis, 6-2, 6-2. At number five singles, Damiisa Robinson posted a win over Rehman Esmail by a score of 6-1, 6-0. Ash Misquith won a 6-0, 6-3 decision over Chris Mills at number six singles. In doubles play, Nathan Thompson and Jenkins downed Murray and Banada at number one doubles by a score of 8-3. At flight two doubles, the Tigers' duo of Robinson and Misquith won an 8-5 decision over Davis and Esmail. Koning and John Boetsch defeated Shaw and Mills at number three doubles, 8-3. The Tigers will return to action next weekend as they travel to Coral Gables, FL to take on Miami at 2:00 p.m.
