Clemson Defeats 39th-ranked Boise State in Men's Tennis
Feb. 11, 2001 Boise, Idaho--The 33rd-ranked Clemson men's tennis team defeated 39th-ranked Boise State 4-3 late Saturday afternoon in the opening day of the Boise State Invitational. With the win, Clemson improved its record to 1-2 on the season.
After Clemson took two out of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point, the two teams split the six singles matches. In number-one doubles, Clemson's duo of Josh Goffi and Marko Gojanovic defeated Boise State's Marcus Berntson and Mark Roberts by a score of 8-5. Darren Knight and Eric Cohn picked up the other doubles win for the Tigers while compteting in the number-two position. In singles, Clemson picked up wins in the number-three, four, and six positions. Marko Gojanovic, Lee Taylor Walker, and Damiisa Robinson were all victories in singles for the Tigers.
Clemson will face 13th-ranked Southern Methodist and 38th-ranked Minnesota on Sunday afteroon in the final two matches of the Invitational.
