Clemson Men's Tennis Players Capture Singles Titles At Harvard Tournament
Feb. 1, 2000 CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Clemson tennis players Sandon Barth and Marko Gojanovic each won singles titles this past weekend at the Harvard Winter Invitational Tennis Tournament. Gojanovic won the main draw "A" Flight title while Barth captured the main draw "C" Flight championship. Gojanovic, a sophomore, was unseeded in the tournament but won four straight matches over three days. In the first round played on Friday, he defeated the third seed Greg Royce from Yale 6-3, 7-6. On Saturday in semifinals Gojanovic again defeated a seeded opponent as he upended the second seeded Mike Dektas from West Virginia by a score of 7-6, 6-3. In the finals played on Sunday he beat the fourth seeded Dave Lingman from Harvard 6-1, 6-2. Barth, a senior, was the second seed of his division and won three straight matches after receiving a first round bye. In the finals, Barth knocked off Kevin Bielen from Rutgers 6-3, 6-1. In the semifinals Bielen had defeated the top seeded Mickey Kaplan of Columbia.
