Clemson Defeats Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

FORT WORTH, TX - Clemson defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 5-2 in a men's intercollegiate tennis match at Fort Worth, TX Saturday.
The Tigers won the doubles point, winning the third and deciding match in a tie-break, 9-8 (8-6). Clemson's Clement Reix and Ryan Young won the first match in doubles play over Andrey Kumantsov and Mikhail Pavlov, 8-4. The Islanders were able to tie the doubles competition at one when Jose Ycaza and Raul Morant-Rivas took down Carlos Alvarez and Gera Boryachinskiy, 9-7 before Jermaine Jenkins and Paul Koenke won the doubles point over Jose Zunino and Jaume Farras.
The Islanders tied the match at one when Kumantsov defeated Reix, 7-6 (13-11), 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Clemson took the lead for good when Young took down Pavlov 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
At No. 6 singles, Alvarez took a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set win over Joey Farrias, before Morant-Rivas won his match at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 for the Islanders second point of the match.
