Clemson's Sprengelmeyer and Li Chosen for NCAA Tournament

CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson men's tennis players Mitch Sprengelmeyer and Bruce Li will take part in the individual portion of the NCAA men's tennis tournament at UCLA on May 21-25. Sprengelmeyer will compete in the singles and the doubles portion of the event, while Li with play with Sprengelmeyer in the doubles competition only.

Both players were prime reasons Clemson won the ACC Championship for the first time in the 1990s and will compete in the NCAA regional at Georgia Tech May 9-11. If Clemson can win the regional it will advance as a team to the team championship at UCLA May 17-20.

Sprengelmeyer is one of 64 players nationally to receive individual bids on Thursday. The senior has posted a 35-6 record this year and the .854 winning percentage is third best in Clemson history and best by a Clemson men's tennis player since 1980. The 1997 ACC Player of the Year now has 114 career singles wins, 10th best in Clemson history and 110 career doubles wins, ninth best in Clemson history. He is one of just seven players in Clemson history with at least 110 singles and doubles wins.

Li teamed with Sprengelmeyer for a 24-7 record so far this year and the duo is currently ranked 32nd in the nation. They are 21-5 in dual matches this year, including 9-1 against the ACC. The Clemson team was one of 32 teams from across the country to receive automatic NCAA bids on Thursday.
