CLEMSON, SC-- Nathan Thornton, who scored two goals in Clemson's 3-2 upset of seventh-ranked North Carolina on Saturday night, was named to Soccer America's National Team of the Week as announced by the weekly magazine and website Tuesday. Thornton scored the game winner with 1:32 left to go in the second overtime period.

Thornton came off the bench and scored two goals in the upset win over North Carolina. Thornton scored early in the second half with an assist by Keegan Priest. Thornton has three goals and one assist for seven points this season.

Clemson is now 5-7-2 overall, and 3-3-1 in the ACC and will play at ACC-foe Boston College on Friday night. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.

The win over seventh-ranked North Carolina was the second top-10 win for the Tigers this season, as Clemson defeated fourth-ranked Maryland 5-3 on October 3. Bother were played at Historic Riggs Field. Ironically, the Tigers defeated 16th-ranked North Carolina and number-one ranked Maryland in the same season in 2006, at Clemson.
