CLEMSON, SC -- The Clemson Men's Soccer team will open the 2008 season Friday night as the Tigers play South Carolina in Columbia at 7:00 p.m.

Clemson returns 11 letter winners and six starters from last year's team. Head Coach Trevor Adair is entering his 14th season at Clemson and has won 167 matches. For his career he has won 201 matches.

Tommy Drake is the Tigers' leading returning scorer as he had five goals and three assists for 13 points as a freshman in 2007. Joseph Bendik was the Tigers' goalkeeper in 2007. He had a 1.50 GAA average and 93 saves in 2007.

This will be the 36th meeting between Clemson and South Carolina on the soccer field. Clemson leads the overall series 22-12-1. The Tigers have a 10-2-1 record in the last 13 matches between the two schools. Head Coach Trevor Adair has a 10-3-1 record against the Gamecocks.
