Clemson Loses to Top-Ranked Indiana in Mens Soccer

BLOOMINGTON, IN-- Lazo Alavanja scored one goal and assisted on another in leading top-ranked Indiana to a 3-0 win over Clemson at the Indiana Invitational at Bloomington, IN late Saturday night.

Clemson falls to 1-2 on the year. Indiana is ranked number-one in the nation, while Clemson is ranked 20th.

Indiana led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Matt Fundenberger who was assisted by Dennis Fadeski and Aleksey Karol. The Hoosiers then scored two goals in the second half to put the game away. Dema Kavalenko scored at the 54:10 mark on an assist from Lazo Avalanja. Then Avalanja scored unassisted at the 66:42 mark.

The Tigers had nine shots on goal against Indiana and goalkeeper Matt Jordan had six saves. Clemson gets back into action next Sunday, September 14, in Chapel Hill. The Tigers open ACC play at North Carolina at 5:00 p.m.
