ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Maryland Terrapins built a 4-0 lead and held on for a 4-2 victory over the Clemson Tigers to advance to the semifinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Tournament at the Disney Sports Complex.
The fourth-seeded Terrapins jumped on the scoreboard quickly on a goal by Leo Cullen in the 16th minute. Maryland would extend to a 2-0 lead just before halftime on a goal by Jason Cropley at the 42:15 mark. Less than a minute into the second half, Maryland again found the net, this time on a goal by Pierre Venditti. Jason Sardis then made it a four-goal bulge with a goal at the 59:51 mark.
Clemson battled back to within two scores when Jody DeBruin converted twice within a five minute span, narrowing the Maryland lead to 4-2. But the Tigers could get no closer as the Terrapins secured the victory.
