CLEMSON, SC - Three different Clemson players scored goals while Connor Barbaree and Hassan Ibrahim both had two assists as Clemson defeated USC Upstate 3-0 in a men's intercollegiate soccer match at Clemson, SC Friday night.
Clemson is now 7-8-2 overall and USC Upstate falls to 2-15-1 this season. This was the 10th meeting between the two schools on the soccer field. The Tigers now own a 9-0-1 advantage in the series.
Clemson scored at the 22:04 mark. Ibrahim threw the ball in to Connor Barbaree. Barbaree crossed the ball from the left. Nick Burton headed the ball into the right corner of the net for his third goal of the season.
On a reset, Connor Barbaree sent the ball in the box from the right center. John Tardy headed the ball and the Spartan's goalkeeper Peter Davis made a save. However, Davis was not able to control the rebound and the ball went to his left. Barbaree knocked the ball in from close range for his first goal of the year.
Clemson scored its third goal in the 78th minute. Ibrahim sent the ball to Keegan Priest on the left side. Priest crossed the ball to Tommy Drake who fired a shot into the left corner of the net for his first goal of the season.

"This was a good win for our seniors," said Clemson Head Coach Trevor Adair. "I think this win tonight helped us reestablish ourselves and will allow us to build momentum heading into next week's ACC Tournament. Overall, I think we played well. I'm proud of our players for not quitting this year and battling back and clawing back and improving as the season progressed. We must now take the 'one game at a time' approach as we start the ACC Tournament next week. Two players I wanted to mention tonight are Connor Barbaree and Keegan Priest. Barbaree does not look like a freshman anymore. He's going to have a great career. Keegan did a fine job tonight. Again, this win will help with our confidence going into the ACC Tournament."
The Spartan's goalkeeper Peter Davis finished the night with nine saves.
Clemson will participate in the ACC Tournament next week in Cary, NC. Pairings for the tournament will be announced on Monday morning.
