CLEMSON, SC - Freshman Tommy Drake scored with 4:18 left to go in regulation to lead Clemson to a 1-0 win over sixth-ranked Boston College in an Atlantic Coast Conference men's soccer match at Historic Riggs Field in Clemson, SC, Sunday afternoon.

With the win, Clemson improves to 7-10-1 overall and 2-6 in the ACC. Boston College falls to 11-4-1 overall and 6-1 in league play.

Drake scored his fifth goal of the season in the 86th minute of play. Mark Buchholz threw the ball in from the right side. David Newton flicked the ball to his left. The ball bounced once and Drake rifled a shot from 12 yards out just inside the left post.

This marked the 50th win over a top 25 team in Head Coach Trevor Adair's career at Clemson. He has posted wins over fourth ranked Virginia and 14th ranked Furman this season before today's match.

"We competed well today," said Clemson Head Coach Trevor Adair. "We did what we had to do, and we did a good job of containing them. Boston College is a very good team. Tommy Drake is a proving that he is a good player in this league. I am happy for our senior today. It was very fitting to go out on a great win like this after a very frustrating year. Bryson Moore played well defensively as did David Newton. This win should help our confidence as we head to the ACC Tournament."

Clemson will play in the ACC Tournament on November 13-18 in the Tigers' next action in Cary, NC.
