Dr. Ibrahim began at Clemson as a professor of chemistry until 1967 when the university decided to start a varsity soccer program. Dr. Ibrahim was named head coach and eventually led Clemson to national prominence.

He led Clemson to two of their four National Championships in any sport in history. His team won the National Championship in 1984 and 1987. He had a career record of 388-100-31 as soccer coach and finished in the top 20 for 18 seasons. During his tenure he also led the team to six NCAA Final Four Appearances, 17 NCAA Appearances, and 11 ACC Championships along with 13 regular season titles.

Dr. Ibrahim had 16 players earn 24 All-America honors. He also had 51 Tigers to be named to the All-ACC first-team 92 times. He coached three U.S. Olympians and eight players were named ACC Players-of-the-Year 12 times. He retired from coaching in 1994 as the nation's fifth winningest coach. He is still thought of today when Clemson men's soccer is mentioned.
