Scott Calabrese is in his fourth season as a Clemson Assistant Coach. Prior to joining the Tigers, Calabrese has previous ACC experience as an assistant coach with the University of North Carolina.

Calabrese was a big reason Clemson advanced to the College Cup in 2005, a first for the Clemson program since 1987. Clemson was ranked third in the final coach's poll. One of his protégé's, Phil Marfuggi, was named an All-American in 2005, and is a Hermann candidate for 2006.

The College Cup is not new for Calabrese. Calabrese was an assistant coach for the 2001 NCAA Championship Men's Soccer team at the University of North Carolina. UNC was also ACC Champions the previous year in 2000. During his two years as an assistant coach at UNC the Tarheels were 42-7.

While in North Carolina, Calabrese lead the Triangle Futbol Club's U18 Team to the State Cup Final as their Head Coach in 2001 and to the Semi-Finals in 2000.

Calabrese also served as an assistant coach at Stetson University during the 1998 & 1999 seasons and at Southern Wesleyn for their GAC Championship season and the NAIA Regional Final 4 appearance. Upon leaving college Calabrese joined the coaching staff of Western Connecticut University where the Colonials shared the Little East Conference regular season title.

Recently, Calabrese was named to the Region III Olympic Development Program coaching staff where he both trained and aided in the selection of Region III teams. Throughout his coaching career, Calabrese has coached 18 athletes that have played or are currently playing in the MLS.

Calabrese was an Assistant with the Carolina Courage of the WUSA. The Courage claimed the 2001 WUSA Regular Season and Founders Cup Championship that season. The Courage went from "worst to first" place that year. Calabrese's athlete, Kristen Luckenbill, was the WUSA Goalkeeper of the year and was nominated by ESPN for an ESPY as the "women's soccer player of the year" in 2001.

Calabrese has also worked with the 2005 Women's Full National Team helping them in preparation for a friendly against the Ukraine played in July 2005 in Portland, Oregon. In the spring of 2004, Calabrese worked with the US Women's Under 21 team in preparation for their Nordic Cup Championship run. He has also had experience with the Under 16 National Team.

During Calabrese's playing career, he was a four-year letterman at Bryant College in Smithfield, R.I. from 1990-1994, earning all NE-10 Conference Honors twice as a goalkeeper and National Recognition in his Junior Season posting goals against average in the top 5 in the country.

After college, Calabrese was contracted to play professionally with the R.I. Stingrays of the USISL and then upon moving to South Carolina for the South Carolina Shamrock of the USISL.

Calabrese currently holds a USSF `A' License.
