Clyde Brown played soccer for four years at Clemson and certainly made his mark on history. He is the only player in any sport to be named ACC Player of the Year for four seasons. In 1972, he led the Tigers to their first-ever ACC Championship and first NCAA Tournament bid. He was an All-American in 1973 and 1974. The Tigers reached the NCAA Final Four in 1973, largely thanks to Brown. He was the team's MVP in 1974.

Brown graduated in 1976 with a degree in accounting. He was inducted into the Clemson Hall of Fame in 1984 and named to the ACC 50-Year Anniversary Team in 2003.
