CLEMSON'S RECORD--Clemson finished the 1996 season with a 10-7-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the ACC. The Tigers were 8-2-2 at Riggs Field in 1996.
WENNING WINS TOP STUDENT AWARD--Craig Wenning won the 1997 Norris Medal during the Spring commencement. The award is given to Clemson's top all-around student. Wenning also won the ACC's Weaver Award (post-graduate scholarship) for outstanting achievement on the field and in the classroom.
CLEMSON LEADERS--Clemson was led in scoring by 1996 senior Jeff Yenzer with 17 goals. Yenzer had seven career goals entering the 1996 season. Paul Stalteri, Tony Williams, and Craig Wenning all had seven assists to lead the Tigers. Williams is the lone returnee in this group that led the Tigers in assists.
CLEMSON PLAYERS NAMED ALL-ACC--Four Clemson Players were named All-ACC as selected by the league's seven head coaches. Paul Stalteri was named first-team All-ACC, while Danny Care, Jeff Yenzer, and Matt Jordan were named to the second team. Stalteri was named ACC Rookie-of-the-Year. Jordan is the only returnee in the group.
STALTERI NAMED ACC ROOKIE-OF-THE-YEAR--Paul Stalteri was named ACC Rookie-of-the-Year as announced by the league's office. Stalteri was the team's second leading scorer with nine goals and seven assists for 25 points. He also played in 15 games, while starting 12. He had the winning goal in the Furman contest on October 23. He also had two assists in the South Carolina game on October 27. He was tied for the lead on the team with seven assists. Stalteri turned pro during the spring.
MATT JORDAN CLIMBING SCHOOL'S CAREER LIST FOR MOST SAVES--Matt Jordan has a 1.21 goal allowed average and 52 saves last year despite playing with a broken bone in his wrist. He had 187 career saves entering 1997, third on the Clemson career list.
HEAD COACH TREVOR ADAIR'S CAREER RECORD--Trevor Adair has a 60-37-8 record in his coaching career. Adair had a 34-24-5 record in four years at Brown University. At Clemson, Adair has a 26-13-3 mark in two seasons.
HISTORIC RIGGS FIELD--This is the 83rd year of Riggs Field as a facility in service to Clemson University. The Tiger football teams played at Riggs Field from 1915 through the 1941 season. The Clemson Baseball, and Track Teams also used Riggs Field from 1915 until the 1970s. The Clemson Soccer team started calling Riggs Field its permanent home in 1979. Riggs Field played host to the NCAA National Championship game in 1987 and the ACC Tournament in 1988 and 1994. Riggs Field is one of the premier soccer facilities in the nation.
CLEMSON'S 1996 RECORDCLEMSON TO PLAY HOST TO 22ND ANNUAL CLEMSON/ADDIDAS INVITATIONAL--Clemson will play host to the 22nd Annual Clemson/addidas Invitational to be held October 3-5. On Friday, October 3, College of Charleston will play Portland at 5:00 p.m., while Clemson will face Florida Atlantic at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday , Clemson will play Portland at 12:30 p.m. while Florida Atlantic will face the College of Charleston at 3:00 p.m.
NIGHT HOME GAME RECORD--When Clemson plays a night home match, the Tigers have a 126-4-6 record. The first home night match was on September 24, 1980, as the Tigers defeated UNC-Charlotte 1-0. The only teams to beat Clemson in a home night game are Virginia, N.C. State, Duke, and North Carolina.
NON-CONFERENCE HOME GAMES--When Clemson plays a non-conference home game, the Tigers have a 247-20-12 record over the years since 1967.
SHUTOUTS--Since Clemson began playing soccer in 1967, the Tigers have held their opponents scoreless in 241 games. Of these 241 contests, the Tigers have won 230 and tied 0-0 11 times.
CLEMSON VS. THE ACC--Clemson has a 52-24-6 record overall when playing an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent at Clemson. Clemson has a 96-55-15 record against Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the regular season, regardless of site.

POLL STREAKS--In the NSCAA poll, the Tigers were ranked in the top seven 77 straight weeks during the period of Sept. 25, 1973 until the Sept. 23, 1980 poll. In the Sept. 30, 1980 listing, Clemson dropped from number-one the previous week to number 17. Clemson was also ranked in the top 20 84 straight weeks from Oct. 17, 1972 through the Sept. 30, 1980 poll.
RANKING NUMBER-ONE--Clemson has been ranked number-one in the NSCAA poll a total of 26 times over the years in the weekly poll. In the Soccer America poll Clemson has been ranked number-one 14 times. The following is a list of Clemson's top-five rankings.

SEASON OPENERS AND ALL-TIME HOME RECORD--The Tigers have a record of 27-2-1 in season opening games since the sport was started at Clemson in 1967. Clemson is 23-1-1 when the Tigers open their season at home. When Clemson plays at home, the Tigers sport a 301-45-19 record, including a 232-42-17 slate at Riggs Field.
UNBEATEN STREAKS--During the period, October 15, 1972, through September 28, 1980, Clemson went unbeaten in ACC play. The Tigers compiled a record of 40-0-2 against ACC foes, while claiming eight ACC championships. During the time of October 15, 1972, through November 2, 1984, Clemson went unbeaten against ACC teams at home and compiled a record of 31-0-4 in these games.

JORDAN PARTICIPATED IN THE WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES-Clemson senior goalkeeper participated in the 1997 World University games this past summer. He is also a memberof the US National B Team.
CLEMSON HAS FIFTH BEST RECORD IN NCAA PLAY--Clemson has the sixth most wins in NCAA tournament play. The Tigers boast of a 33-17 record in the NCAAs. The Tigers also have the fifth best winning percentage in NCAA tournament play. Clemson has advanced to the Final Four six times, and has captured the national championship twice.
