Clemson, SC - Clemson freshman Kyle Stanley is ranked eighth in the nation in the latest GolfWeek/Sagarin individual golf rankings. The native of Gig Harbor, WA has a 69.56 rating, best among ACC players. He is on pace to have the best ranking by any Clemson golfer since the 2003 season when D.J. Trahan finished second in the nation.

Stanley is also on pace to have the highest ranking ever by a Clemson freshman. Trahan also holds that distinction with a 22nd place finish in 2000.

Stanley, the first freshman in ACC history to win Player of the Year honors, will compete as an individual in the 2007 NCAA Tournament at The Golden Horseshoe in Williamsburg, VA May 30 through June 2. He played at that course October 2-4 in the Ping Preview and finished 18th with a 212 score, two-over-par. After an opening round 74, he finished with rounds of 69 and 69.

That is Stanley's only finish outside the top 15 in a tournament this year. He recently finished third at the NCAA East Regional, the highest finish ever by a Clemson freshman in an NCAA Tournament.

Stanley has a 71.26 stroke average for the year, on pace to be the seventh best in Clemson history, the best by a Tiger freshman. He has a 70.11 stroke average in the final round of tournaments this season, fifth best in the nation according to Golfstat. He is also fifth in the nation in scoring average on par five holes (4.55) and is 19th in the country in putting with 29.67 putts per round.

Classmate Ben Martin is ranked 65th in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin ranking. The native of Greenwood had a 73.48 stroke average for the Tigers this year, second best on the Clemson team.
