Macon, GA - Luke Hopkins had the top Clemson round of the day, Kyle Stanley had the best Clemson finish of the tournament, and Tanner Ervin had two birdies within the last three holes to lead Clemson to a second-place finish at the Brickyard Collegiate at Brickyard Golf Club in Macon, GA on Tuesday.

The Tigers finished with a three-round total of 839, 25-under par. The total tied or the ninth best team score in Clemson history and the best since October of 2003 when the Tigers had a 26-under par score of 826 at the Jerry Pate Invitational in Birmingham, AL. Clemson had team rounds of 277-276-286 to finish at 25 under, eight shots behind Georgia and two shots ahead of ACC rival Georgia Tech. South Carolina was fourth in the 13-team field at 861.

Kyle Stanley was Clemson's top golfer of the tournament with a seventh place finish off a 209 total, seven under par. His top round came on Monday when he shot a five-under 67, his best round of the year. He had an even par 72 on Tuesday.

Hopkins had Clemson's best round on Tuesday with a three-under par 69. He started slowly with two bogeys within his first three holes for the third straight day. But he played the next nine holes at five under par and finished with the three under score. Overall, Hopkins had a 213 total to finish in 11th place.

Tanner Ervin shot a 73 on Tuesday, but he finished strong with two birdies within his last three holes. That gave Clemson a two-shot cushion over Georgia Tech for second place. Ervin had a 67 in the first round, his best round in two years. He finished 10th overall with a 212 score.
 

 

Sam Saunders had a top 15 finish with a 214 score. He slumped a big on Tuesday with a 75 after shooting a 68 in the second round. He did not have a bogey in the second round.

Ben Martin shot an even par 72 on the final day and finished in a tie for 24th. Zach Siefert played the event as an individual and shot a 218 score for the three days to also finish 24th.

Clemson's final tournament of the fall will be at the Isleworth Collegiate in Windermere, FL October 21-23.
