In Summer of 2008: Had many highlights in the summer of 2008, and was ranked in the top five of the World Amateur rankings the entire summer...finished eighth at US Open qualifier in Columbus, OH with 137 score for his 36 holes, six-under-par...had rounds of 72-78 at US Open at Torrey Pines and missed the cut by one shot...was eliminated when Stuart Appleby made a 40-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole...reached the final eight of the North-South Amateur at Pinehurst #2 in July, he won three matches before losing in 21 holes to Kevin O,Connell...finished 21st at Players Amateur, then won the Southern Amateur in Orlando with a 45-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole...shot a 274 at Southern Amateur for 14-under-par total...that included a final round 66 to get into the playoff...it marked the second time he has won the Southern Amateur...finished fifth in stroke play qualifying at Western Amateur to reach the 16 players in match play, but lost in first round...exempt into the US Amateur because he was member of the United States Walker Cup team...finished fifth in stroke play at US Amateur, then reached the second round before he was eliminated 1-up.

In 2007-08: First on the Clemson team in stroke average with 72.44 average, leading the Tigers to fifth-place national team finish...had 72.25 average in the fall and 72.66 stroke average in the spring...led team in top 10 finishes with six and in rounds under par with 13 and rounds at par or better with 21 ...got off to a rough start when he finished 74th at Carpet Classic, he was trying to play the tournament just after getting back from the Walker Cup trip to Ireland and he did not have the proper rest to prepare... had strong finish to fall with seventh place finish in his last two events...he then finished 14th at Western Refining All-American Tournament in El Paso...he led Tigers to second place team finishes at the Brickyard and at Isleworth in the fall...had a 209 score for the 54 holes at The Brickyard in Macon, the low tournament by a Clemson golfer all year...had rounds of 70-67-72 in finishing with a seven-under par score...that second round 67 tied for the best round by a Clemson golfer this year...then shot 213 at Isleworth for seventh-place finish...finished the fall with six consecutive rounds of par or better...had pair of top five finishes in middle of the spring when he finished fifth at Hootie @ Bulls Bay and at Furman...also had a top 10 at Augusta State...helped Clemson to second place finish at Bulls Bay...had a 25th place finish at NCAA East Regional where he was playing in front of his hometown fans...led the team in birdies for the year with 138....Clemson's top golfer in six of the 11 team events he has played in this year...his score has counted towards the Clemson team score in all but three team rounds...finished season with strong showing at NCAA tournament, he was seventh in the field of 156 golfers with eight over par score of 296...had 68 in second round of the tournament, only Clemson golfer to score in the 60s on the Kampen Course at Purdue...had the lead at one point during the final round...ranked tied for second in birdies at the NCAA National tournament with 15, even though he did not make one in the final round....ranked 34th in the final Sagarin rankings for 2007-08.

In Summer of 2007: Finished the summer ranked fourth in the World Amateur rankings according to Golfweek...had a very busy summer that included his selection to the United States Walker Cup team...had four top 10 finishes and a fifth place finish in stroke play at the United States Amateur...started the summer with an 11th place at the Sunnehanna...had disappointing 28th place at the Monroe, but came back with three straight top four finishes....finished fourth at Northeast Amateur, third at Sahalee Players and third at Players Amateur...his performance at the Players Amateur included a second round 64 and final round 63 and he finished at 20-under par 268...first Tiger to play in Western Amateur in many years and he shot a 277 for an eighth place finish...reached the match play in that event and reached the quarterfinals...finished 13th at Scratch players Championship in San Francisco...reached the second round of the US Amateur after beating Jon Bettencourt 5 and 3...lost in second round to David McDaniel, 1-up...lost both matches in Walker Cup, which was played in September at Royal County Down in Ireland, but both were very close matches that came to final holes.

In 2006-07: Just the third Clemson golfer named ACC Player of the Year, joining Richard Coughlin (co-player in 1996 -97) and D.J. Trahan in 2002...second among all Division I freshmen in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings behind NCAA Champion Jamie Lovemark of Southern Cal ... had some strong stats, he led Clemson in stroke average with 70.87 figure, best ever by a Clemson freshman and second best in school history...especially strong in final rounds, where he averaged 70.00, sixth best final round stroke average in the nation...also had 4.54 average on par five holes, fourth best in the nation...ranked 21st in par four scoring at 4.02 and 24th in sub par strokes per rounds (3.97)...led the team in putting with 29.67 per round... ...only Clemson golfer to win a tournament in 2006-07, he won the Aloha Purdue Collegiate in a playoff against Drew Weaver of Virginia Tech... first Clemson freshman to win a fall tournament, and first freshman to win any tournament since D.J. Trahan won the Las Vegas Invitational in the spring of 2000...Stanley joins Jimmy White, Chris Patton, Jonathan Byrd, Lucas Glover and Trahan among Tiger freshmen who have won a tournament...his 207 in winning the Purdue Aloha Classic tied a Clemson record for a 54-hole event by a freshman...won the event by winning a one-hole playoff with Drew Weaver of Virginia Tech...first Tiger to win a tournament in a playoff since Matt Hendrix won in playoff at Augusta State Invitational in 2003-04...a model of consistency, he played in 10 tournaments and has finished in the top 20 in all 10 events...that is the most top 20s by a Clemson freshman in history and the longest streak of consecutive top 20 finishes by any Tiger since D.J. Trahan had a school record 17 in a row from the Spring of 2002 through the Spring of 2003...he will try to add to that streak next year as a sophomore...finished in the top 91.2 percent of his tournaments, the second best percentage in Clemson history behind D.J. Trahan's 91.8 percent in 2001-02...finished second at NCAA Tournament to Jamie Lovemark of Southern Cal, another freshman...Stanley had a three-shot lead starting the back nine, but Lovemark came on strong at the end...finished with a seven under par 273 total...the 273 was the second lowest gross score in Clemson history in an NCAA National Tournament...the seven under par was the fourth best score versus par in Clemson history in an NCAA Tournament....six of the finishes are top 10s, tying Jonathan Byrd's freshman record in 1996-97...finished 10th at Isleworth, first at Aloha Classic, 10th in Puerto Rico and third at ACC Tournament in the regular season...his third-place finish at the ACC Tournament tied for the best in Clemson history by a freshman at that event (Nicky Goetze third in 1990)...his 210 score was second best score by a Clemson freshman in the ACC Tournament, one off the 209 by John Engler in 1998...finished strong with a third place finish at the NCAA East Regional at The Golf Club of Georgia...that is the best finish in Clemson history by a freshman in an NCAA Tournament, breaking the previous record fourth-place finish by Richard Coughlan at the 1994 NCAA Regional...had 21 birdies at the NCAA East Regional to lead the tournament and was eight under par on par five holes, which also led the field...his final round 67 was the best in the final round in the field of 141 players...had a 70.87 stroke average for the year, best on the Clemson team by 2.61 strokes/round ...beat Trahan's previous freshman record by 1.61 strokes per round...finished at 75 or under in 30 or 31 rounds this year, his only round over 75 all year was a 78 in the first round of the US Collegiate... shot under-par in seven of his 10 events, including six of the last seven...had seven of the Clemson team's 13 under-par individual tournaments in 2006-07...did not play in Las Vegas so he could compete in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in March...shot rounds of 75-74 to miss the cut by a couple of shots...shot just one shot more than Tiger Woods did in the second round and better than former Clemson All-American Jonathan Byrd did that day...had a regular season best 67 in the Aloha Classic second round...shot a three-under 207 in winning the event with a birdie on the first playoff hole against Virginia Tech's Drew Weaver...it was the second time he had beaten Weaver in a playoff, as he also defeated him and others in a playoff to win the Sahalee Amateur in Washington last summer...in May of 2007 he won a playoff against four others in local qualifying for the US Open at the Island Course in Mount Pleasant...one of the players he beat was former Clemson All-American and PGA Tour player Matt Hendrix...won that playoff with birdies on consecutive holes... had a 71.0 stroke average in the fall of 2006... named one of 22 amateur college players to the Watch List for the Ben Hogan Award in October, 2006...he joined Wake Forest's Webb Simpson and Georgia Tech's Cameron Tringale as the only ACC players on the list...ranked 12th in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings at the conclusion of the fall...finished the season with six consecutive rounds at par or better, all in NCAA tournament play...shot over 72 in his final round of a tournament just once all year and that was a 74 at Augusta State.

In Summer of 2006: Had outstanding summer of 2006 prior to his arrival at Clemson when he won two tournaments and qualified or the US Amateur...moved to #13 on the US Amateur rankings by Golfweek entering September of 2006...ranked among the top five junior players in the United States all summer ...also competed for the United States team in the Junior World Cup in the summer of 2006, he finished third individually... won the Sahalee Players Amateur in Sammamish, WA, won the Southern Amateur in Birmingham and finished third at the Players Amateur, all within a three-week time period...also qualified for the US Amateur at Hazeltine Golf Club in Chaska, MN by winning his local qualifier...shot a 136 after consecutive rounds of 68 at the Annandale Golf Club in Pasadena, CA...won the Sahalee Players Amateur in Washington when he won a four-man playoff...had birdies on the 16th and 18th holes to get into the playoff, then made two eagles over the three holes in the playoff...there had been just three eagles by the entire field in the tournament prior to the playoff...his winning eagle putt in the playoff was from just 12 feet...youngest player to win that event at age 18, he joins Ryan Moore and Jason Gore as champions of that event...won the Southern Amateur in Birmingham, AL in late July by one shot when he shot a nine-under par 275 for the four days to finish one shot ahead of Virginia Tech player Drew Weaver...that victory earned him a spot in the 2007 Bay Hill Classic on the PGA Tour...named the National Amateur Golfer of the Month for his performance in the month of July... finished in third place at the Players Amateur where he shot 264, 20-under par...shot four rounds in the 60s, including 62 in the final round...played for the United States Team in the Junior World Cup in Toyota City, Japan at the Chukyo Golf Club in late June...helped the Americans to the championship with a third-place individual showing with a 277 score that included four rounds of 70 or better.
