FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- Charles Warren won the individual title as he shot a four under par 212 in leading Clemson to the team championship at the 43rd Annual Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Whitewater Creek Country Club at Fayetteville, GA Sunday.
This is the fifth time in history that Clemson has won the Atlantic Coast Conference title with the last championship coming in 1990. Clemson also won the event in 1982, 1986, and 1987.
Warren shot a 74 on Friday and came back to shoot a 67 on Saturday. Today he shot a 71 for the 212 score. He is the fourth Clemson player in the history of the Championship to win the individual title. Former Tiger Danny Ellis was the last Clemson player to win the individual title in 1992.
Clemson's Joey Maxon shot a 218 for the three rounds and finished in a tie for fifth place. Jonathan Byrd shot a 219 and finished seventh in the tournament for the Tigers.
Clemson shot a 292 on Friday and a 290 on Saturday. Today the Tigers shot a 285 and finished with a 867 total and finished three over par in the tournament, 10 strokes ahead of North Carolina who finished second with a 877 total. Wake Forest finished third, 14 strokes behind Clemson with a 881.
