ATLANTA - North Carolina grabbed a two-shot lead over Clemson after Friday's first round of the ACC Men's Golf Championship held at Whitewater Country Club.
The Tar Heels fired a 2-over par 290 and lead Clemson by just two shots in the 54-hole tournament which concludes Sunday. Wake Forest sits in third place at 296 and Duke is fourth at 297.
The Blue Devils were led by Jason Buha, who grabbed the first-round lead in the individual title chase with a 2-under par 70. Five players are tied at 1-under including Clemson's Joey Mason and Jonathan Byrd along with Maryland's Robert Bilbo and Lee McEntee of North Carolina.
The second round is scheduled for Saturday and the final round will be Sunday on the 6,739-yard, par-72 layout.
