Charlie Whitehurst found a streaking Derrick Hamilton for a 36-yard touchdown in the first quarter to begin Clemson's 63-17 beating of South Carolina. The 63 points scored were the most points scored in the history of the series by either team. When Hamilton caught the pass it marked the fifth straight game that Hamilton had caught a touchdown pass. That is a Clemson record for consecutive games catching a touchdown pass and the #7 Play of the Year.
