Chad Jasmin Fact: Only Clemson running back since 1987 to catch two touchdown passes in the same game. Fall 2003 Depth Chart Position: Starting fullback Years Lettered: 2000-02 Bowl Participation: 2001 Gator Bowl against Virginia Tech, the 2001 Humanitarian Bowl against Louisiana Tech, and the 2002 Tangerine Bowl against Texas Tech.

Overview: One of six active players to appear in three bowl games; he has played as a reserve in each one...has played well in bowl games; he had a career-high 83 rushing yards on 16 carries in the 2001 Humanitarian Bowl, then had two catches for 22 yards and rushed for a score in the 2002 Tangerine Bowl...had an injury-plagued 2002 season, but still made strong contributions when healthy...missed three games due to a pulled thigh muscle that bothered him much of the year...an outstanding receiver...had a four-yard touchdown catch at N.C. State in 2001 and two touchdown catches at North Carolina in 2002, so he now has three receiving scores in his career...all have taken place in the state of North Carolina...first Clemson running back since Terrence Flagler (at Wake Forest in 1986) to catch a pair of touchdown passes in the same game...has 10 career receptions and three have gone for scores...earned his degree in August, so he will be a graduate during the 2003 season...a native of Louisiana who is product of Clemson recruiting ties dating to Coach Bowden’s time at Tulane...has 340 career rushing yards and 101 career yards receiving...outstanding blocker who makes the Clemson offense go in short yardage; his injuries hurt Clemson’s ability to convert in that situation on a consistent basis at midseason...has a solid 4.4 yards per rush average over his career. In 2002: Highlight game of the year took place at North Carolina, where he caught a pair of touchdown passes from Charlie Whitehurst in the third quarter...no one can recall another game in Tiger history in which a fullback caught two scoring passes in the same game...had a 14-yard catch from Whitehurst in the third quarter that culminated an 85-yard drive; he made a diving catch in the corner of the endzone...then scored on a two-yard reception to culminate an 80-yard drive...also had 14 yards rushing...had three catches for 47 yards in that contest...had two catches for 22 yards against Texas Tech in the Tangerine Bowl; he also scored Clemson’s only rushing touchdown in that contest on a two-yard run...his season-rushing high came in the season opener at Georgia when he had five carries for 30 yards...played in 10 of the 13 games, as he played from scrimmage in every game he played...played a career-high 43 snaps against Texas Tech and a regular season-high 24 snaps at North Carolina...played 18 plays in the win over South Carolina, as his blocking was a key to Clemson wearing down the Gamecocks late in the game...missed the Georgia Tech, Ball State, and Maryland games due to injury.

In 2001: Led the Tigers in yards per rush in 2001 with a 5.0 average, just ahead of Bernard Rambert (4.9) and Woodrow Dantzler (4.8)...had 204 yards in 41 attempts...did not build his average with a big run; his longest rush of the year was just 15 yards...played well in the Humanitarian Bowl win over Louisiana Tech; he was second on the team in rushing with a career-high 83 yards in 16 carries...again had a 5.2 average with a long gain of just 12...averaged at least five yards an attempt in four of the last five games he carried the ball...played in every game and averaged 13 plays per game...played 30 snaps against Louisiana Tech, his career high...had an outstanding effort at Maryland; he had 34 yards in just five carries...had a regular-season best 47 yards in eight rushes against Wofford...an outstanding blocker as well; he provided many key blocks for Dantzler during his All-ACC season...had an outstanding Spring Game of 2002, where he scored three touchdowns and was the game’s top rusher with 13 carries for 68 yards.

In 2000: Backup fullback to graduate student Terry Witherspoon...had a 5.5 yard average in his 11 attempts; all the attempts came within the first three games of the season...that led the team in yards per carry for the season...played 53 snaps over the first three games, but just 29 the last nine games...did see action at running back in the Gator Bowl (eight plays), but did not carry the ball...missed the Virginia game with an injury; that is the only game he missed in his first two years...played at least one snap in the 11 games he was healthy...also helped on special teams in all 11 games...had three special teams tackles, two against Georgia Tech and one against South Carolina...had four carries for 34 yards against Missouri in the second game of the season, which included a career-long rush of 23 yards...added seven carries for 26 yards against Wake Forest including an 11-yard touchdown run.

In 1999: Red-shirted...was close to “being activated” when injuries hit the Tiger running backs...did not have a productive 2000 spring due to a knee sprain.

In High School: Rushed for 2,018 yards on 210 carries (9.6 yards per carry) and had 33 touchdowns as a senior (where he played a full game only five times) at Saint James High...had 3,260 career rushing yards and 52 touchdowns; his team was 36-7 his last three years...played the equivalent of only 17 full games in his career due to large margins of victory and a broken foot suffered in his junior season...one of the top-five running backs in the nation and #1 I-formation tailback in the Southeast according to Max Emfinger...All-American and #9 running-back prospect in the Southeast by Southeastern Recruiting Alliance...an All-SEC Region selection by PrepStar...Louisiana Football Magazine Player-of-the-Year in the New Orleans Area...an all-state selection as a senior by the Louisiana Sports Writers and the Louisiana Coaches’ Association...played for the #3-ranked team in Louisiana as a senior at Saint James High (the team went 12-2 and advanced to the state semifinals)...district offensive MVP as a junior and senior...rushed for 873 yards with 12 touchdowns in only five games as a junior (due to a broken foot) on the 11-3 team...rushed for 369 yards with seven touchdowns as a sophomore on the 13-2 team...coached by Rick Gaille at Saint James High...lettered in track, as he ran the 100 meters and 4x100 relay...chose Clemson over Louisiana State, Michigan, and Nebraska...pronounced JAZ-mihn...born Chad C. Jasmin on 5-24-80...earned his degree from Clemson in human resource development in August of 2003.
