Overview Clemson’s only official first-team All-ACC selection by the ACC Sportswriters Association…also first-team All-ACC by The Sporting News…had 64 tackles for the season, seventh best on the Clemson team…ranked ninth in the ACC in sacks per game, he had seven for his 13 contests, but he was third in sacks in ACC games…had seven sacks for 63 yards, the exact same totals he had as a sophomore (2000) when he was named Clemson’s defensive MVP by the coaching staff…the seven sacks are most by a Clemson defensive tackle since Trevor Pryce had 7.5 in 1996 (Eason played defensive end in 2000 when he had the seven sacks)…had 19 quarterback pressures best on the Clemson team…never had double figures in tackles, but had at least four tackles in 10 of the 13 games…had season high eight tackles against Wake Forest…had a pair of two-sack games, one against Georgia Tech and one against Duke…had perhaps his best game of the year in the early season win over Georgia Tech, he had the two sacks, six total tackles and two quarterback pressures…had pair of sacks against Duke, the only Clemson player to have more than one sack in a game in 2002…had at least two quarterback pressures in eight of the 13 games…also had one sack at Florida State and one in the win over North Carolina…the 64 tackles were his high total for one season…if you were asked to pick one team leader, it would be Nick Eason…veteran of 48 games, he missed just one game in his career, the 2000 Gator Bowl against Virginia Tech…tore his Achilles during a December practice in Jervey Gym preparing for that game…had problems with his good Achilles tendon this year, he rarely practiced on Mondays, but did start every game…missed the last half of the Maryland game due to the injury…has played over 1800 snaps and has 30 career tackles for loss to go with 15 sacks…only Bryant McNeal had more in both areas on the 2002 Clemson team…currently 15th in Clemson history in sacks… started 35 of his last 37 Clemson football games…amazing that he has started all 13 games in final year, he fought an Achilles tendon problem all year…no one on the current Clemson team does more community service, he read to various elementary schools every Monday morning during the season…has been named one of the Clemson’s Top Six Award winners by the ACC for his community service each of the last four years…odds on favorite to be named for a fifth straight year…will be only ACC athlete who can make that claim…earned his undergrad degree from Clemson in August of 2001, he played his last two seasons as a graduate student…plans to go into law enforcement when playing days are over…earned his under grad degree in sociology…
Prior to 2002 Named to the Goodworks Team by the American Football Coaches Association in 2001, just the second Tiger to be honored…only ACC player to be named to the team that honors players for their considerable community service activities… had 37 tackles in 12 games in 2001, 11 as a starter....sprained ankle effected his ability to play against Virginia and NC State, he played just five snaps in each of those games… had season high six tackles against Wofford and five against Wake Forest…had one tackle for loss in seven different games…had fumble recovery against Wofford, then had a 25-yard fumble return against Duke for his two takeaways …played at least 40 snaps in four of the last six games…named Clemson's defensive MVP for 2000, quite an honor considering he was a member of a defense that featured four first-team All-ACC players...that award was voted on by the Clemson coaches…played 19 snaps against Mississippi State in the Peach Bowl...tied with All-American Keith Adams as the team leader in quarterback sacks with seven, he ranked in a tie for eighth in the ACC in that category...ranked 12th on the Clemson team and second among defensive linemen in tackles with 36...his 11 tackles for loss ranked second behind Keith Adams...Army ROTC Defensive Take no Prisoners award vs. NC State....had nine tackles against Georgia Tech, the top total for a Clemson front four lineman in 2000 season...had great game at North Carolina with five tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks...had at least one tackle for loss in seven of his 11 games...had seven tackles in the win over South Carolina for his second highest tackle game of the season... active participant in FCA, he traveled to Spain with an FCA group last spring.....worked out with a Spanish Rugby team while he was there to lecture to youth groups about American sports… played at least double figures in every game in 1999, including the Peach Bowl against Mississippi State...had best game against South Carolina when he had five tackles, including a stop for loss... red-shirted the 1998 season...averaged 10 tackles per game his senior year of high school...born 5-29-80...earned degree in sociology.
