Thomas Brown was a multi-sport athlete for the Tigers in the 1930s. He participated in football and basketball mostly, but also made appearances in baseball and track. The baseball and track coaches often called upon him to enhance the efforts of their everyday players.
In basketball Brown was known to be a powerful guard as he was an aggressive defender. During his final two seasons the team went 30-10 and in his senior season he was a second-team All-Southern Conference selection. As for football, his combination of power and speed helped him as an offensive guard and a defensive tackle. He was an excellent blocker and almost impossible to get by as a defender. In his final two years he earned all-state honors, and during his senior year he was named to the All-Southern Conference and an All-American.
After he left college he went on to coach in college and high school for a number of years before moving into a private business. Brown passed away in 1973 from leukemia.
