One of the best student-athletes in Clemson history was Ben Anderson, a football player from 1970-72. He was a second-team Academic All-American and a three-time Academic All-ACC selection. He earned the NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship in 1973 and won the Jim Weaver Award as the outstanding student-athlete in the ACC. On the field, he led the team in tackles in 1971 and 1972 and was voted the team's top defensive player in 1971. Along with playing football, he served on many committees and as President of Tiger Brotherhood. Upon graduation, he was presented with the Norris Medal, given to Clemson's top all-around student. He also won the Frank Howard Award for bringing honor to Clemson, the Crozton Ferris Mobley Award for the highest scholastic average by a senior athlete, and the James F. Byrnes American Government Award. Anderson graduated from South Carolina Law School and served as General Counsel for Clemson University. He was inducted into the Clemson Hall of Fame in 1997.
