College of Charleston:
Starting pitcher Ryan Edell carried a perfect game into the fifth-inning before giving up a one-out homerun to Ricky Rivera. Edell pitched 4.1 innings without allowing a baserunner.
Phillip Coker had his seven-game hitting streak snapped as he went 0-3 on the day.
Chris Campbell now has 87 RBI, a new Southern Conference record and the current national leader for that category.
Brett Gardner's two-out 2RBI single in the sixth-inning extended his current hitting streak to 25 games. Gardner now has 296 hits for his career, a school record.
Gardner stole second base in the sixth-inning, his 37th of the season, and 96th of his career, building upon his school record for stolen bases.
College of Charleston's 495 RBI for the season is a new Southern Conference record.
With the win, starting pitcher Ryan Edell improved his record to 8-2 this season and 2-0 in NCAA Regional play.
Closer Brett Harker recorded his 15th save of the season and 29th of his career, both school records. The save is his first in NCAA Regional action.
College of Charleston's 48 season wins is a school and Southern Conference record.
The Cougars are the sixth team in SoCon history to record at least 500 strikeouts.
With the win, College of Charleston improves to 3-2 all-time in NCAA Regional play. The Cougars were 2-2 in their only other NCAA Regional appearance last season in the Baton Rouge Regional.
Oral Roberts:
Chris Campbell's homerun in the bottom of the fourth-inning was only the second homerun this season given up by starting pitcher Dennis Bigley.
Ricky Rivera's homerun in the top of the fifth-inning broke up Ryan Edell's perfect game. Edell had pitched 4.1 innings without allowing a baserunner.
Starting pitcher Dennis Bigley walked 7 batters in 5.1 innings, the most walks he has allowed all season. In the regular season, Bigley only walked 24 batters in 104 innings, or 2/9 IP.
Michael Holliman's RBI triple in the sixth-inning was his team leading third triple of the season.
With the loss, Dennis Bigley's season record falls to 11-4 overall. Bigley is now 1-2 for his career in NCAA Regional play.
With the loss, Oral Roberts falls to 20-33 all-time in NCAA Regional play.
