Travis Storrer hit a home run and Andy D'Alessio drove in three runs to lead #9 Clemson to a 7-3 victory over Virginia Tech in front of 4,341 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers finished off the series sweep and improved to 33-13 overall, 15-6 in the ACC. The Hokies fell to 17-27 overall, 3-21 in the ACC.
Clemson, who totaled 10 hits, was led by Storrer's 2-for-2 day with a homer and two RBIs. D'Alessio was 2-for-3 with three RBIs as well. The Hokies, who left 11 runners on base, were led by Matt Hacker's two hits.
David Kopp (3-1) earned the win by pitching 6.0 innings, allowing seven hits, two runs, and four walks with six strikeouts. Hokie starter David Cross (3-7) took the loss, as he allowed seven runs on nine hits in 6.0 innings pitched.
Storrer got the Tigers on the board in the first inning when he hit a two-out, solo home run to right field, his ninth of the season and seventh in the last 10 games.
In the bottom of the second inning, Taylor Harbin led off with a walk and stole second. Two batters later, D'Alessio laced a single up the middle to plate Harbin. After D'Alessio stole second, Adrian Casanova hit a two-out single up the middle to score D'Alessio.
The Tigers added to their lead in the third inning. Brad Chalk slapped a one-out single to left field, stole second, and scored on Storrer's single through the right side. A walk by Tyler Colvin and an infield single by Marquez Smith loaded the bases for D'Alessio with two outs. The junior blooped a two-run single to center to score Storrer and Colvin. D'Alessio improved to 6-for-8 with 19 RBIs with the bases full in 2006.

Clemson got the run back in the bottom of the fourth. Herman Demmink hit a one-out triple down the right-field line and scored on pinch-hitter D.J. Mitchell's sacrifice fly to right field.
In the top of the fifth inning, Nate Parks led off with a walk and went to third on Warren Schaeffer's single to center. Bryan Thomas plated Parks with a sacrifice fly to left field.
Virginia Tech mounted a rally in the ninth inning. Matt Foley led off with a triple down the right-field line and Parks drew a walk. Foley scored on Schaeffer's sacrifice fly to center.
Clemson will have a week off for final exams before traveling to Durham, NC to play at Duke in a three-game series starting Sunday at 7:00 PM.
