CLEMSON, S.C. - Thirteenth-ranked Clemson defeated UNC Wilmington 6-3 at Tiger Field Sunday afternoon, and in the process won its ninth consecutive game.

Clemson improves its record to 12-1. UNC Wilmington falls to 4-7.

Kurt Bultmann led the Tiger charge with two hits in four at bats. The junior from Seminole, FL also hit his seventh double of the season. Justin Hyde also had to hits for Clemson, including a double.

The Seahawks could only manage four hits and three runs off Tiger starter Mike Paradis and reliever Donovan Harrison. Paradis (2-0) pitched seven innings, allowing four hits and three runs to earn the victory. Harrison picked up his first save by pitching the final two innings without allowing a hit. Starter Bryan Mazur (0-2) suffered the loss for the Seahawks.

UNC Wilmington put two runs on the board in the first. Daniel Marsh and Ken Ickes both walked. Benji McIntosh drove Marsh home with a double, and Mike Foucht drove home Ickes on a groundout.

Clemson came right back with four runs in the bottom of the first. Brian Holstad walked and Patrick Boyd singled to put runners at first and second. Bultmann then drove them both home on a double. Peter Nystrom gave the Tigers a 4-2 lead on an RBI singe, scoring Bultmann.

The Seahawks cut the Clemson lead in half in the second when Mike Rugienius drove home John Avent on a groundout.

But UNC Wilmington would get no closer, as Clemson added single runs in the fourth and eighth innings. Holstad drove Derek Borgert home in the fourth on a groundout. Henri Stanley then provided the final score in the eighth with an RBI single up the middle.

Clemson will play host to Florida Atlantic in the first of a two game set on Tuesday at 3:00 PM. Wednesday's game time has been changed to 2:00 PM.
