Head Coach Jack Leggett on Mitchell: "D.J. is one of our top returning pitchers. He's a righthanded junior who is going to fill a major role on the mound. He has pitched in some big games for us in the past. He originally came to us as an outfielder but has developed into more of a pitcher. I expect a great year out of him."

Used as a reliever and starter in 2007 after not pitching at all as a freshman in 2006...throws a fastball in the low 90s with movement...versatile player who has great speed in the outfield and on the bases...a career .241 hitter with eight doubles, two homers, 24 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases in 93 games (52 starts).
