Leggett Comments: "Josh is an outstanding junior college transfer from Seattle. He is coming off a great summer with the Cape Cod League. He has excellent stuff. He is very deceptive in his windup. he throws from three quarter length arm angle and will probably do a lot of closing for us in games. We look for him to fulfill a role that all the teams must have if they are going to win a National Championship and that is to have a great closer. We look for Josh to fill that role."

2001: Established himself early as a capable closer... ranked fifth in the ACC and is the team leader in saves (5)... leads the Tigers with 24 appearances this season... earned saves in three consecutive appearances early in the year... picked up first save of the season in a 7-4 victory over Furman... allowed one hit over 2.1 innings to earn a save against South Carolina... threw 1.1 scoreless innings to get the save against the College of Charleston... scattered four hits over 3.2 innings to earn his first win of the season in Clemson's 4-1 win over Wake Forest in 12 innings... picked up his fourth save of the year with a scoreless ninth inning against Duke... pitched one scoreless inning against Georgia Tech... grabbed his second win of the year by pitching a scoreless 10th inning in a 10-9 victory over North Carolina... got the final two outs of Clemson's 7-6 win over N.C. State to earn his fifth save of the year... notched two wins in the final week of the regular season... allowed only one hit over 4.2 innings in a 9-6 win over Furman in 11 innings... gave up four runs in the ninth inning but still scored a victory in Clemson's 5-4 win over Virginia in the regular season finale.

BEFORE CLEMSON: Played the 2000 season at Edmonds CC...comes from the same junior college where former Tiger assistant Hank King was the head coach in 1999...was 5-0 with a 1.08 ERA, 45 strikeouts, and only 12 walks through 33.0 innings pitched and 20 appearances at Edmonds CC...coached by Dan Marbut at Edmonds CC...played the 1999 season at Portland under Head Coach Chris Sperry...was 3-1 with a 3.95 ERA in 24 relief appearances at Portland...was especially effective in his last 10 outings at Portland, where he had a 1.67 ERA and allowed just eight hits in 16.2 innings pitched...led the conference with 15 outings in conference play at Portland...graduated from Meadowdale HS, where he was coached by Ron Martin...had a 19-7 career record, which included a 4-4 record as a senior; he was hampered the second half of that season with a stress fracture in his right leg...a First-Team All-WesCo selection, an All-State selection, and team captain as a senior...also voted Most Inspirational, Meadowdale High School Athlete-of-the-Year, and USMC Student Athlete-of-the-Year as a senior...his Connie Mack team finished third in the Western Regionals in 1998...named to the All-WesCo Second-Team as a junior...his summer team was regional champions for CABA in 1997...an Honorable Mention All-WesCo selection as a sophomore...his AAU team in 1996 finished eighth in the nation...played for the Mickey Mantle State Champions in 1995...his team finished third in the nation at the NABF World Series after garnering the regional championship...played for the 1992 Washington State Little League champions...lettered three times in baseball and three times in basketball.
