Head Coach Jack Leggett on Bond: "William has been coming off injuries the last couple of years, but he seems to be healthy this season. He has a strong arm with a good curveball and has a chance to help our team this year. He is a junior lefthanded pitcher who works really hard, and I look for him to be a factor in this year's success."
Situational lefty who has been used out of the bullpen to retire lefthanded batters during his one active season at Clemson...has played in the program for three years, but has been hampered by injury...has a good breaking ball.
2007: Had a 2.25 ERA in five relief appearances (4.0 innings pitched)...allowed seven hits (all singles), three runs (one earned), and two walks with four strikeouts...had a .200 opponents' batting average with two outs...held opponents to 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and two outs...did not allow an earned run with four strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched in non-ACC regular-season games...did not allow an earned run with three strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched over two relief appearances against NCAA Tournament teams...pitched a scoreless inning in relief with a strikeout against Gardner-Webb on Mar. 27; it was his first career appearance...pitched a perfect inning in relief against College of Charleston on May 15.
2006: Missed the season due to an arm injury.
2005: Red-shirted...played for Keene in the NECBL in the summer, where he was 0-0 with an 0.93 ERA in 9.2 innings pitched (four relief appearances).
BEFORE CLEMSON: Lettered four times in baseball at Greater Atlanta Christian School, where he was coached by Cliff Shelton...threw a school-record four no-hitters and five one-hitters...member of the state runnerup team as a junior...from the same high school that sent former punter Cole Chason (2003-06) to Clemson.
PERSONAL: Two-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll...majoring in marketing...born William Alan Bond on Dec. 12, 1985 in Columbia, SC.
