         <description><![CDATA[On Wednesday, January 27, five Tiger student-athletes traveled to Mt. Lebanon Elementary School to promote literacy. Each athlete visited a fifth grade classroom and read a selected book to the students. Afterwards, the athlete and students discussed the importance of literacy and answered questions about college. Student-athletes who visited Mt. Lebanon include Caitlin O'Neill (rowing), Lydia Hassell (rowing), Ashley Good (track and field), Stephanie Fura (swimming and diving) and Michelle Nance (rowing).]]></description>

Helping Hands, an emergency shelter for abused and neglected children, is currently home to 24 children ages 2-12. The athletes spent time with the kids creating Christmas crafts, baking cookies, reading stories and coloring. The event was held during the dinner hours of 5:30-7:30 PM at Schilletter Dining Hall on campus.
