CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson Swimming and Diving team will travel to Athens, GA for a three-day championship meet, the Georgia Invitational, from Friday, Dec. 5 to Sunday, Dec. 7.

Beginning Friday, Georgia will host California, Clemson, Denver, Harvard and West Virginia in the three-day invitational. Each day, preliminary heats will begin at 9:30 a.m. with finals being held at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The finals on Sunday will take place at 3 p.m.

"We are very excited to be participating in the prestigious Georgia Invitational," said Head Coach Christopher Ip. "We are looking forward to going to Athens to showcase our program, and it will be a challenge for us to see how we stack up against the best that the NCAA has to offer."

The meet features some of the nation's top programs, as the Bulldog women are currently ranked first in the nation in the CSCAA poll, while their men are tenth. Also in the field are the #6 California women and #25 Harvard men.

Through five dual-meets so far, the Tiger men are 1-4 (0-3 ACC), while the women are 2-3 (1-2 ACC). In their most recent action, the Tiger squads both fell at Virginia Tech on November 8.

The Tigers top swimmers will make the presence felt, as Rachel Regone enters the meet with the fastest 50 free time of any participant this season. Regone currently ranks second in the conference. She will also battle for a top time in the 100 free. Michelle Parkhurst will also contend in the backstroke events.

Recaps following each finals session will be available at clemsontigers.com. Live event results will also be available throughout the course of the meet at georgiadogs.com. Admission to three-day event, held at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in the Ramsey Student Center, is free.

Following the meet in Athens, the Tigers will break for final exams and will return to action on Jan. 2 against Florida Atlantic and LSU in Boca Raton, FL.
