The Clemson men's and women's swimming and diving teams will begin their 2008-09 dual meet season with the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday, October 4 at 1:00 p.m. in McHugh Natatorium.

Head Coach Christopher Ip will lead the Tigers into the pool against John Young's Wildcats. The Clemson women are 6-0 all-time against Davidson, while the men will try to even their all-time record at 14-14 in a series that dates back to a 53-22 Davidson win on January 13, 1950.The Tigers have won the last eight meetings and are 5-0 in Ip's tenure. Clemson won both match-ups last season, with the men winning, 130-113 and the women winning, 133-93.

The women's team returns nearly everyone from a season ago. Michelle Parkhurst, a four-time ACC champion, will lead the Tigers, along with a strong contingent of 13 seniors and 10 juniors. Conversely, the men have a very young team, with only four seniors and five juniors, and will expect a lot from their 11 freshmen, ranked 20th in the nation by collegeswimming.com.

This will also be the opening meet for the Wildcats. The women's team won the inaugural Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association conference championships, while the men were the runners-up. Sophomore Lindsey Martin was named to the 2008 Division I Women's Mid-Major All-America Swimming team by CollegeSwimming.com, after winning both the 50 and 100 free at the conference meet as a freshman.
