Clemson, SC- The Clemson Lady Tigers Swimming and Diving team will travel to Chapel Hill, NC this week for the ACC Championships which will be held at Koury Natatorium. The competition will begin Wednesday night as Clemson will compete in the 800 freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay. Clemson finished second in the 800 free relay a year ago. This season, the Lady Tigers finished 10-5 (4-4 ACC). It was the first time since 1998-99 that Clemson has been .500 or better in the conference.
Clemson's top returnees from the 2006 Championships include sophomores Michelle Parkhurst, Rachel Regone, and Cassy LaRussa. At last year's meet, the three combined for seven top-eight finishes. Parkhurst claimed second in the 100 backstroke, and third in the 200 backstroke, Regone placed fourth in both the 50 and 100 free, and LaRussa finished fourth in the 500 free and sixth in the 200 free and 1650 free events. All three were also members of the silver medal winning 800 freestyle relay.
The last time the ACC Championships were hosted by North Carolina, Clemson placed fifth with 339 points. Last year's total of 374 points at the ACC meet was the highest by any Lady Tiger team since 2002. The order of events will be:
