Clemson Swimming Tops Auburn

CLEMSON, S.C. -- The Clemson men's and women's swim teams defeated the Auburn Tigers in scrimmage competition on Friday afternoon in a 5K open water swim in Hartwell Lake.

The Clemson men's team defeated Auburn, the defending NCAA and SEC Champions, by scoring 12 points to Auburn's 24 in competition where the lowest point total determines the champions. Clemson's Will York finished first in the race with a time of 1:01.55 followed by teammate Matt Maurir in 1:02.07 in second. Auburn's Romain Barnley placed third in 1:02.38.

The Clemson women, defending ACC Champions, scored 39 points as Auburn recorded 89. Christina Greig of Clemson was the top finisher in a time of 1:03.19. Auburn's Brooke Monroe finished second, recording a time of 1:03.20.

Clemson plays host to the Orange and White meet slated for October 11 at 4:00 PM at the McHugh Natatorium on the Clemson campus.
