Clemson Swimming and Diving Defeats Virginia Tech

Both men and women post wins.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Clemson men defeated Virginia Tech 176-67, while the Clemson women posted a 165-78 victory over the Hokies in collegiate swimming and diving action on Sunday afternoon in Blacksburg, VA.

With the wins both Tiger teams improve to 1-1 on the young 1998-99 season.

Leading the Tiger men was sophomore Razvan Petcu. Petcu posted wins in the 50-freestyle with a time of 20.75 and the 100-butterfly with a time of 50.92.

On the women's side junior Jen Mihalik won one event individually and was a part of two team winning efforts. The Clemson, SC native won the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.80. Mihalik was a part of the winning 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams.

The Clemson women's next competition will be at Tennessee on November 6. Both the men and women will compete in the Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, NC, November 19-21.
