Women's Swimming Concludes Competition At NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, TX - The Clemson women's swimming team concluded competition at the 2002 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The Tigers finished the meet ranked 41st after setting school records in the 200 free relay and 400 medley relay. On the final day of competition, Jenna Burtch and Christine Woodruff competed in the 100 free. Burtch recorded a time of 50.73 in the prelims, and Woodruff posted a time of 52.60. Mandy Commons competed in the 200 breast, recording a time of 2:19.38. In the 400 free relay, Clemson's team of Woodruff, Burtch, Thieler and Hider posted a time of 3:24.67 in the preliminaries. None of the Clemson swimmers qualified for the finals of the events.
Clemson recorded points in the 200 free relay and 400 medley relay, recording season-best times en route to 16th-place finishes. The Tigers' 200 free relay team of Christine Woodruff, Jenna Burtch, Elise Thieler and Patty Hider recorded a school-record and season-best time of 1:32.28 in the preliminaries of the event before posting a finals time of 1:33.34. In the 400 medley relay, the Tigers' team of Lindsey Kroeger, Mandy Commons, Elise Thieler and Jenna Burtch set another school record and season-best time of 3:43.50 in the preliminaries. In the finals, the Clemson team finished in 3:46.75.
