Women's Swimming & Diving Defeats South Carolina

Tigers improve to 5-2 on the season.

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Clemson women's swimming and diving team, ranked 22nd nationally, defeated South Carolina 159-81, Saturday afternoon at the McHugh Natorium on Clemson's campus.

Senior Wendy Henson and freshman Cami Sink were dual winners for the Tigers. Henson placed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.26 and won the 500 free in 4:58.83. Sink won the 200 back with a time of 2:05.82 and the 200 IM in 2:05.72.

Clemson freshman Emily Hustead took first in the 200 fly (2:06.31), and senior Kathy Lowry won the 50 free (23.84). Junior Jen Mihalik, a 1998 All-American, won the 100 free in 51.68 and senior Amy Suppinger placed first in the 200 breast (2:24.37).

The Tigers' 400 Medley Relay team of Mihalik, Sink, Suppinger and Lowry placed first with a time of 3:52.97. Clemson took the top three spots in six events on Saturday.

The Tigers (5-2, 1-1 ACC) will play host to NC State Saturday, January 30 at 1 p.m.
