Clemson, SC - Two days before they host their annual showdown with North Carolina, the Clemson Swimming and Diving teams had to shift their focus as Gardner-Webb and Davidson visited McHugh Natatorium Thursday night. Clemson's men's team used two event victories by senior Joel Johnson to slide past Davidson 121-106. The men's team is now 7-2 (2-2 ACC) on the season. The Lady Tigers moved to 8-4 (2-3 ACC) by defeating Gardner-Webb 127-105 and Davidson 136-99.
The men's team started their meet with Davidson off by taking the top two
spots in the 400 medley relay. The team of Jason Chatlosh, Mark Vahle, Joel
Johnson and Stephen Russell touched the wall in a time of 3:29.03, barely
ahead of Bryce Herrington, Andy Bergren, Jay Crout, and Brian Regone who
finished in 3:29.82. Sophomore Daniel Mengering (9:43.43) took the win in
the next event, the 1000 freestyle, and was followed by a 1-2-3 finish in
the 200 freestyle. Freshman Matt Angelini (1:44.45) finished first, Adam
Farnham (1:45.28) claimed second, and Russell (1:45.67) finished third.

Balderston (46.93) won the 100 freestyle, while Charlton finished in second
place. Brian Possee (4:43.95) recorded the last event win for Clemson as he
