Jarrett Foster is in his first year as an assistant coach with the Clemson track and field program, where he will work with the Clemson field event athletes. He served as an assistant coach at Western Carolina the last three seasons, where he was responsible for the throws, pole vault, high jump and multi-events. Over the three years, the Catamounts amassed five Southern Conference team championships, three for the women's team and two for the men. Foster has coached one Junior National All-American, along with four junior qualifiers, one NCAA provisional qualifier and three Southern Conference Freshmen of the Year. At Western Carolina he developed 28 Southern Conference individual champions, including two Southern Conference MVPs. A four-year letterwinner on the Western Carolina track and field team, Foster was chosen team captain and MVP his senior season. Foster earned his bachelor's degree in parks and recreation management from Western Carolina in 1995 and completed his master's degree in education at the school in 1997. "I've had the opportunity to observe Jarrett in his coaching and his recruitment of athletes, and I have been very impressed with his coaching at Western Carolina," said Clemson head coach Bob Pollock. "He is one of the bright, young coaches coming through the track and field profession that will add a great deal to our program. He is very knowledgeable of the field events, and I look forward to him working with our field event group." |
