A full-time member of the Vickery staff since its inception in 1991, Ginty Porter serves as the CHAMPS/Life Skills Coordinator and Athletic Academic Advisor for men's and women's swimming and diving and women's tennis. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Arkansas in 1975 and her Master of Arts in English from Clemson University in 1977. Prior to working at Vickery Hall, Ginty taught English as an instructor at Clemson University and Tri-county Technical College before accepting a teaching position at Pendleton High School.
During her tenure at Vickery Hall, Ginty has coordinated the CHAMPS/Life Skills programming and helped set the foundation for a nationally recognized Program of Excellence, awarded by the Division 1A Athletic Directors in 1999. She was recognized this year by the same association as the Outstanding CHAMPS Program Coordinator for 2008. Ginty has served as chair of the NCAA Leadership Conference selection committee and will be serving as an NCAA peer reviewer for the Division I Athletics Certification beginning in Fall 2008.
Ginty is married to Dan Porter of Seneca, South Carolina, and they have a son, Robin and a daughter, Carly.
