Emily Barrett Ahrens began at Vickery Hall in November of 2007 as a Learning Specialist. Emily has been a competitive gymnastics coach for the past 10 years and also serves as the advisor for the Clemson University Club Gymnastics team.
After graduating high school, Emily moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia to pursue her undergraduate degree in Psychology from James Madison University. Upon graduation, Emily gave back to her community and her country in an Americorps program called "City Year." She completed a year of service in the San Jose Unified School District in California where she was a mentor and tutor for at-risk elementary school and middle school students.
Emily then came back to her hometown of Clemson and completed a Masters in Teaching from Clemson University in 2007. She taught 8th grade Algebra for one year before joining the Clemson University Athletic Department. Emily's favorite part of the job is helping students gain confidence in their academic abilities. She loves helping students grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
