CHAMPS/Life
Skills
Challenging
Athletes' Minds for Personal Success
Since its inception in 1991, the Student-Athlete Enrichment Programs has provided its student-athletes a continued commitment to excellence. As one of the original institutions chosen to participate in the NCAA Life Skills program in 1994, Clemson University Athletics Department is a proven leader in the field of support programs for student-athletes. Our program was awarded the Division 1 Athletic Directors Association’s Program of Excellence award in 1999, and our CHAMPS/Life Skills coordinator, Ginty Porter, is the 2007 recipient of the Division 1 Athletic Directors’ Dr. Gene Hooks Award for Outstanding CHAMPS Coordinator. The CHAMPS /Life Skills program is designed to help student-athletes realize higher academic achievement, increase likelihood of retention, graduation, and employment in their chosen professions.
