Clemson University All-Female Cheerleading Squad

All-Female Cheerleading Squad

Introduction
Thank you for showing your interest in the Clemson University All-Female Cheerleading squad.  My name is Dipali Patel and I will be coaching the All-Female team.  I am very excited about this upcoming season.  We are looking for a group of 28 talented, enthusiastic, and spirited young ladies.  The All-Female team’s primary job will be to cheer all of the Men’s and Women’s basketball games. There will be opportunities to join the Orange squad (co-ed) during the football season to help lead the crowd.  We will perform at appearances in and around the Clemson area.  During basketball games, the All-Female team will join the student body, Rally Cats, and the band to lead the crowd and the basketball team.  The All-Female team’s performance will focus on crowd leading cheers, dances, tumbling, and stunts.  Our routine’s will be clean, synchronized, spirited, and most IMPORTANTLY fun! Our main goal is to get the crowd excited and involved by getting them to join us in on our cheers and chants.

Expectations
The All-Female squad is expected to have energy, enthusiasm, strength, difficulty, and good attitudes.  Each girl must be able to perform with all of these expectations in order to perform well in front of the crowd.  We will be sharp, clean, synchronized, and FUN! Our practices will be held on Monday and Wednesday 8-10 P.M. and optional practices on Sunday evenings.  There will be a required workout, twice a week in the morning for every participant before the basketball season begins.  Clemson University and I will expect every girl to maintain good grades in classrooms.  You must stay on top of your school work and classes.  If you are not able to show responsibility in classrooms, then that reflects how well you will follow the rules and regulations of this team.  Tumbling is an option at tryouts but it is recommended.  The following is expected from the All-Female team for the stunt portion of tryouts:

Base
Must have correct techniques to building stunts, strength, able to perform minimum levels of stunts, must be able to be both; main base and a side base.

Spot
Must have correct techniques of back spotting with various types of stunts, must be able to spot and cradle from any level of difficulty, and strength.

Flyer
Must have correct techniques of building a stunt or executing from a stunt, strength, able to express confidence and must be able to lead the crowd from a stunt, willing to try various levels of stunting and executions. You must be able to perform one legged elite and transitional stunts.

Tumbling is not a requirement; however it is highly recommended.  Everyone that chooses to cheer on the All-Female team may tryout in the spring or in the fall. You are NOT ALLOWED to tryout for both the Orange and the White squad in the spring due to camp purposes. No one will be allowed to switch over from All-Female team to the Co-ed team at any time throughout the school year.  If you are selected to be on the All-Female team, you will be required to get your physicals done through Clemson University on April 21st.

Overall, Clemson University and I are very excited about this All-Female Cheerleading team!   Good luck to ALL who are trying out!  Be on a look out around campus for flyers and time as we get closer to the week of tryouts!  If you have any questions or comments, please email me at dipali@clemson.edu or contact me directly at 864-986-9234.  GO TIGERS!!!!!!
