Charlie Bussey was quarterback of Clemson's first t-formation recruited team in 1953. As a senior, he was the captain of the 1956 ACC Champion Tigers and played in the 1957 Orange Bowl. His honors include Academic All-American and All-ACC. In addition, he was a member of Tiger Brotherhood, Blue Key, and graduated with Academic honors as well as an Outstanding Military Graduate (AFROTC).

After graduation, Bussey served in the Åir Force as an instructor pilot, and his business career included positions with Laurens Glass, Louis Batson Company, and Palmetto Chemicals. He was also the athletic director at Louisiana Tech University, in Ruston, LA.

Bussey served Clemson in many varied areas, including President of IPTAY, President of the Tiger Letterwinners Association, and committee member of the Commission for the Future of Clemson just to name a few. He is a member of the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame, the IPTAY Board of Directors, and was a recipient of the Clemson Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award.

Bussey now serves as Executive Director of the Tiger Letterwinners Association.

Charlie and his wife, Joyce, have three daughters, Pam, Laurie, and Jennie, all Clemson honor graduates. Their seven grandchildren are all sustaining Tiger Cubs; Lauren, Ben, Jill, Meg, Blake, Hope, and Davis
