Becky Bowman is in her eleventh year at Clemson. She serves as the Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services. The native of Irmo, SC is a 1976 graduate of Winthrop. She also earned a Master's degree from Virginia Tech in 1980. Bowman came to Clemson from the NCAA National Office, where she served seven years in the membership services area. While at the NCAA, she was named senior staff member, and coordinated the NCAA Division I Athletics Certification program and peer-review training in addition to conducting institutional compliance reviews.
Prior to working at the NCAA, Bowman was the head volleyball coach at UNC Charlotte from 1983-91. She also served on the faculty while at Charlotte and served as its head softball coach in 1984 and 1985. From 1976 until 1983, Bowman was the head volleyball and basketball coach at Harding High in Charlotte, NC. During her career at Winthrop, Bowman played on the basketball and volleyball teams, captaining the volleyball team her senior year. She was named to Senior Order and Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities in 1976.
At Clemson, she directs Vickery Hall. As Director of the Student-Athlete Enrichment Programs, she works daily with student-athletes, academic advisors, learning specialists, and coaches. Prior to this, she coordinated Clemson's NCAA and ACC rules compliance program. She has served on numerous ACC committees and the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Committee. She has served as a peer-reviewer for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the NCAA Division I athletics certification program.
Bowman is active in her church, Five Point Fellowship in Easley. She serves on the School Improvement Council at Liberty Elementary School where her children attend school.
