Former President Celebrates 90th Birthday

March 25, 2004

A Clemson legend celebrated his 90th birthday on Thursday among one of his favorite interests: athletics. From manager of the football team in the 1930s to University President to retiree, Dr. R.C. Edwards has always been the epitome of a loyal Clemson Tiger.

Dr. Edwards still greets all Clemson athletic teams as they head out before road trips and attends as many home events as possible, years after he once led the football team down The Hill before a game. Scroll down to look at photos from his lunch party at the Athletic Department.
