Two top-20 teams, Clemson and Michigan, met in the second round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament on Saturday afternoon, with Clemson grinding out a 4-1 victory. The Tigers advance to Tulsa, OK for the round of 16 and will play the winner of the Texas A&M and Stanford matchup on Thursday.

Clemson, SC - Travis Padgett set a school and facility record Saturday and turned in the fastest time in the nation this season in the 100m dash to highlight Clemson's efforts at the Orange & Purple Classic. The junior speedster breezed past the field to a time of 9.96 seconds with a legal wind (1.2), the top collegiate time in the country and second-best time in the world this outdoor season.

Clemson will open up the season against Alabama on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA. A limited number of lower level ($67) tickets and upper level ($55) seats still remain after orders were received from the initial limits placed through the IPTAY priority point system.

Three-time football All-American Anthony Simmons and former Lady Tiger basketball coach Jim Davis are among eight members of the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2008. Charlie Bussey, Executive Director of the Clemson Letter Winners Association made the announcement on Thursday.

Eight Tigers tallied at least two hits and Clemson totaled a season-high 20 hits in its 16-6 victory over #25 Georgia Tech in front of 1,781 fans at Russ Chandler Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Clemson also tied its season high for both runs and extra-base hits (7). The Tigers improved to 26-25-1 overall and 11-18-1 in ACC play. The Yellow Jackets, who won the series 2-1, fell to 36-15 overall and 14-13 in the ACC.
